M2Disco research team of LIRIS

The M2Disco research team aims at proposing new combinatorial, discrete and multiresolution models to analyse and manage various types of data such as images, 3D volumes and 3D meshes. A first topic concerns the design and study of discrete structures for image and shape representation. A second topic focuses on collaboration between analysis and modeling, in order to develop highly efficient and adaptive algorithms. A third topic concerns the study of combinatorial optimization problems that often arise in our applications.

LIFL FOX-MIIRE

The LIFL is a Research Laboratory in the Computer Science field of the University of Sciences and Technologies of Lille (USTL) linked to the CNRS, (UMR USTL/CNRS 8022) and in partnership with the Unit of Research Futures of the INRIA. The LIFL co-operates with the IRCICA and IRI research Institutes. It was founded in 1983 and has been continuously expanding ever since. Its staff presently comprises 200 members – 90 lecturers and professors, 30 technicians and administratives –, and 80 PhD students. Researches at LIFL Laboratory may be grouped around three great domains:

  • CBS axis: theoretical aspects in computer science;
  • CIM axis: new technologies for global information society;
  • SCOPE axis: new paradigm for distributed and parallel computing.

FOX-MIIRE research group of LIFL

The FOX-MIIRE research group’s main interest is 3D-model analysis for indexation, segmentation and recognition purposes. The group has developed several methods for 3D-mesh model indexing (based on statistical analysis of the surface and based on characteristic 2D-views). The group also works on topological analysis of 3D-mesh and Reeb graphs to obtain an enhanced topological graph that can be used to produce high-level primitive 3D-mesh segmentation. At last, the FOX-MIIRE research group is also interested in 3D-face recognition, within the framework of the FAR3D ANR project for example.

The FOX-MIIRE research group is located at TELECOM Lille 1, a French Grande Ecole on the University of Lille 1 campus.

INRIA EVASION

The Jean Kuntzmann laboratory (LJK) is an Applied Mathematics and Computer Science laboratory created in January 2007 in Grenoble, France. Its expertise centres on the computational and statistical sciences and their uses in analysing natural phenomena, with applications ranging from environmental modelling through life sciences, nanosciences, visualisation and signal processing to mathematical finance. The laboratory is structured into three scientific departments: Geometry & Images, Deterministic Models & Algorithms, Statistics.

EVASION team of INRIA Rhône-Alpes

The EVASION team of Laboratoire Jean Kuntzmann (CNRS, INPG, UJF, UPMF) and INRIA was created on January, 1st 2003. Its research topics are dedicated to modeling, animating and visualizing natural objects and phenomena. For this, two main research axes are developed: First, the development of fundamental tools for specifying complex natural scenes and objects, for tuning alternate representations for shape, motion and appearance, and for building algorithms lying on adaptive level of details for managing complexity optimally. Second, the validation of these tools on specific natural scenes, from mineral world (ocean, rivers, lava, avalanches, clouds) to animal world (simulation of organs, characters faces body and hairs, moving animals), passing through vegetal scenes (morphogenesis of plants, prairies, trees).
